Awards & Blogroll

Blog posts come and go, so I’m dedicating a permanent page to the fellow bloggers who were kind enough to nominate me for an award and then the bloggers I nominate.  These are all blogs I have followed for some time.  The bloggers come from different backgrounds, are of different ages, and write about a diverse group of topics, from current events to living abroad to crafting to getting old to having young people angst.

But what they all have in common is their passion and their dedication to blogging.  All of the nominees post with consistency.  Of course, they also often get a guffaw out of me, which…believe me…isn’t all that easy.

Versatile Blogger Award

Sharon @ Hyperactive Inefficiency nominated me for a Versatile Blogger Award.  Check out her witty, pithy observations about everything, from proper comma usage to PMS and getting kicked in the back.  I’ve already said too much.

Mr. Marymuthafuckingpoppins @ A Spoonful of Suga also nominated me for a Versatile Blogger Award.  If you like your oatmeal with cayenne pepper and thumbtacks, then you can empathize with what Mr. MMFP is going through.

Expatlingo @ Expat Lingo also nominated me for a Versatile Blogger Award and a Liebster Award.  An expat in the Greater China region with roots in Salt Lake City and Seattle (go figure), she blogs/cartoon strips (??) and packs and unpacks her way through living the expat life.  Even if you’re not an expat, her blog is worth a gander.

Stryanni, whose starship had “crash-landed on Earth”, was disoriented enough to give me a Liebster Award, before she came to.  As an “alien”, Stryanni writes about humans, mostly.  Check out her blog (I’m pretty sure Stryanni’s a “her”, though it’s not explicitly stated, or I’m not paying enough attention) – it’s quite other-worldly.

The people I nominated for a Versatile Blogger Award/Liebster Blog Award:

Gin & Lemonade

Mostly Bright Ideas

Ginger Fights Back

The Camel Life

Malate

Kitchen Slattern

Becoming Cliche

F Words by Sue Fenton

Wendie @ Kitchen Slattern – bless her wine glasses and her heart –  nominated me for a 7×7 Link Award.  Wendie kicks ass in the kitchen and on her blog.  Literally.  And recently I found she kicks ass while wearing 3″ heels.

The people I nominated for a 7×7 Link Award:

A Spoonful of Suga

Ashley Jillian

Not Quite Old

Mme. Cristy Carrington-Lewis over at Paltry Meanderings of a Taller Than Average Woman deigned to stoop so low – because I’m not even 5’3″ and she’s taller than average and packs quite a punch…or so her husband tells me the best he can, with his fat lip and torn tongue –  to give me a barrowful of awards:

Despite the height difference, Mme. Carrington-Lewis and I have much in common.  Like me, her first post, “Why I Hate Witty People“, was Freshly Pressed the day she wrote it, catapulting her to such great heights she now has problems finding something in her size.

More deserving blogs (some of whom don’t know I exist):

Leanne Shirtliffe – Ironic Mom

Life in the Boomer Lane

Expat Lingo

Nonsense to Momsense

Esenga’s Voice was kind enough to nominate me for the “Very Inspiring Blogger Award”.  A newbie to WordPress (and to my blog), I’m grateful for the nomination, and hope everyone can check out her blog!

Kate over at gottapickapocketortwo was kind and/or misled enough to surreptitiously nominate me for “The Beautiful Blogger Award”.  And I think the Award is referring to my blog and not my physical appearance, which had previously garnered accolades for “A Face Like a Frying Pan Award” and “Top 10 Most Likely Person to Keep a Child Under 5 Years of Age Awake at Night Award”.

Bloggers I nominate for the “Beautiful Blogger” and “The Very Inspiring Blogger” Awards:

A Totally Impractical Guide to Living in Shanghai

The Chronicles of a Skinny Jeans-Wearer

The Meat & Potatoes of Life

The Byronic Man

The Smallest Forest

Not Quite Old

J-Bo (aka. Julia Boriss) and Apartment Envy (not to be confused with Penis, the guy I dated two years ago) – both nominated me for the “One Lovely Blog” Award, which I’m pretty sure is the SAME award, except the award icons are totally different:

One Lovely Blog nomination from J-Bo.

One Lovely Blog nomination from http://aptenvy.com.

Julia is a hilarious therapist. (Is there ever any other kind?  Well, I wouldn’t know, having come into little contact with therapy, although I’ve sent plenty of people there, I’m sure.)  She blogs about her insane experiences with…everything.  Apartment Envy, on the other hand – is an interior designer-plus blog, about decorating stuff, life, and more decorating stuff.  Both blogs are very different but have a great energy that only twenty-somethings can muster … sigh….

Other blogs I’ve recently grown to love:

Ginger Fight Back

Exceedingly Senior

The Snoring Dog Studio

American Taitai

Expat Edna

Know you’ve been tagged before, but you’re just too god-damned funny, so I mentioned you again. Don’t worry about “passing it on.” My “nominating” post is here http://wp.me/p2ctSb-qO (teaser: you’ll learn about the marital woes of my parents in the afterlife)

Decided to borrow this idea. Just created an award page. Getting “tagged” doesn’t count as an actual award now does it? Wink. Thanks again.

Hey, for me nowadays getting tagged is like being asked out for a date. So….

Pithy. I like that word. Almost as much as I like your blog and this new page. You’re nice.

You are altogether too kind, Susan. Yours is by far the funniest, smartest blog on the web. At least three guffaws in every post.
